Jeju April 3 History Museum at the Old Alcohol Factory

Jujeonggongjang Suyongso 4·3 Yeoksagwan is a history museum in Geonip-dong, Jeju, on Jeju Olle Route 18. It occupies the site of an old liquor factory and covers the history of the industrial facility during the Japanese colonial period and the attached warehouse used as a civilian detention center during the 4·3 period. The factory produced alcohol from sweet potatoes grown across Jeju, and the alcohol was used as fuel by the Japanese military. During 4·3 the attached warehouse held civilians in group detention, where detainees endured torture and poor conditions.
