The Ureshipamoshiri Hokkaido Irankarapte Statue stands just outside the west ticket gate of Sapporo Station. The wooden statue depicts Ainu figures, and its name includes the Ainu word "irankarapte," which means hello. Because the statue is visible inside the station, people use it as a meeting point. It draws crowds taking photos, so anyone waiting there should stand a little to the side of the statue.
