Gion Sichuan Tsubame Rai Bō (Yanlaifang)

Gion Sichuan Tsubame Rai Bō (Yanlaifang) is a Sichuan restaurant set slightly back from Hanamikoji in Gion, Kyoto. It serves course meals that include mapo tofu, Peking duck, and shark fin rice, along with dishes made with fermented chili and Sichuan peppercorn. Tables are separated by partitions, slow jazz plays, and several kinds of Chinese tea are available. The Sichuan cooking here is less spicy than its usual reputation.
